Romantic Relationships

Understanding what happens when connection matters most.

Romantic relationships have a way of activating our deepest expectations about closeness.

A delayed text can suddenly feel much bigger than a delayed text.

A disagreement can feel like rejection.

A partner needing space can feel like abandonment or a partner wanting closeness can feel overwhelming.

Sometimes the problem isn't that you don't know what a healthy relationship looks like. It's that knowing something intellectually doesn't automatically change what your nervous system expects when you're emotionally invested.

In individual therapy, we can look closely at your relationship experiences: the people you're drawn to, what happens once you're attached, how you respond to conflict, what makes you feel secure or insecure, and what you tend to do when you're afraid of losing connection.

Whether you're dating, in a long-term relationship, going through a breakup, questioning a relationship, or trying to understand why the same patterns keep repeating, therapy can give you space to understand what's happening beneath the surface.
